Meanix Mantras

The spark that ignited Meanix Mantras in 2019 was a small collection of slogans written for a design class assignment to rebrand legendary LGBTQA+ community pillar, The Center, in New York. ~ SERVING REALNESS BECAUSE EQUALITY ~ was the first zinger that rang so true it inspired multitudes in it's wake. I've written more than 2,500 so far. My fairy muses whisper them in my ear at the strangest of times. Tons pour through me in the middle of the night. Or they pop into my head when I'm washing dishes, taking showers, taking poops, swimming laps, riding the subway, watching an amazing show, scrolling memes, reading self help books, meditating, listening to podcasts, transcending through art, ALL the ways we self care and sometimes especially in times when we don't. Sometimes they come to me as gifts of desperation after I've reached another bottom. Often mantras arrive just after my spirit weeds out another long rooted negative self talk to replace it with new seeds of innately loving realizations. I definitely was influenced by the slogans found on the walls at 12 step recovery meetings as well as many words of art -like Jenny Holzer's Truisms- as well as other powerful aphorisms or equally potent common expressions.

Other times I am more directly inspired by another creative being and will make note of that with an IB, short for inspired by.

I am a word nerd, literally. ;)

So when I discovered my family name ~Meanix~ means courage, I summoned my namesake to bring these words of encouragement out from the ethers and into the world.

The third word always being because became a running theme and holds true to how I will be serving you thousands of reasons why I personally love life. Also, since I write them firstly for me, they won't always make sense to you unless you choose to interpret them for yourself.. or not and skip to one you love.

I landed on calling them Meanix Mantras. Following soon is a list of other options I think apply. Call them what you will. And hey, let me know if you write some of your own, I challenge you to stick to the because as the third word 'formulation'. And just so I told you so, the muses may never leave!
